What is Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a natural healing discipline that comes from the same ancient oriental principles as acupuncture, using hands rather than needles

Shiatsu is based on thousands of years of oriental medicine theory.

Shiatsu is performed through loose clothing.

This form of Japanese bodywork works with the body’s energy lines and stimulates the body’s flow of energy working with the acupuncture meridians. The client lies fully clothed on a futon while the therapist uses stretching rocking manipulation and pressure movements to bring the body back into balance. It works in a non-invasive, respectful and compassionate way. It supports an individual’s self healing ability and increases their body awareness.

It is a preventative therapy which helps maintain an individual’s vitality and stamina, helping to strengthen the vital organs and preventing energy from getting blocked in the body. The focus is on the person and not the disease, enabling the person to control or bring relief to the disease.
